Sage X3 is an ERP offering extended functionalities covering all the SMEs management needs. It is complemented by a set of verticals, often written by partners, and is configurable and customizable.
This allows each customer to have the solution that precisely meets their needs.

Like all editors, Sage regularly publishes updates: patches (fixes) and versions (evolving). From version 12, there are no longer versions but “Releases”, which become semiannual  and contain corrections and changes.
To integrate these releases, we no longer perform a migration but a "transition".

A transition is a complex operation because of the potential conflicts between changes delivered in the new standard release and customizations. It cannot be done without risk directly on the production environment.

Xtech-Studio provides you with the tools and methodology to perform these operations, and more generally to manage and evolve your Sage X3 environments.

Key concepts

XTECH-STUDIO is organized in modules:

Environment

Facilitates all operations on folders and tables. Enables very fast and secure folder copying, filtering data and/or directories, automating the necessary modifications to avoid conflicts with the production folder (smart copy), and controlling access during extraction.

Another mechanism allows you to merge folders, enabling you, for example, to refresh the data in a folder while keeping developments and settings. 

With Xtech-Studio, you can also use filtering mechanisms to create an “archive” folder on another computer and reduce the size of the production folder. If your database is large, this operation will bring you significant performance and operating time gains.

Tools for manipulating system tables and user management tables, in the SQL database and in Mongo DB, are also available.

Evolution

Simplify and secure all your transitions (release upgrades, which will be performed much more frequently than version changes) by offering you three methodologies tailored to the complexity of each project, from the simplest to the most complex, with the associated tools, and by using the infrastructure set up during the initial installation of Studio to optimize time.

Development

Facilitates, secures, and accelerates the validation and integration of all developments into the production folder. 
The module works by comparing a reference folder with a development folder.

The elements to be selected are chosen by picking at the most detailed level (column, field). The module offers delta-patching.

Checks on the creation and application of “lots” enable secure updates to be made in all contexts.

The reversibility function allows you to return to the state before the “lot” was applied.

Tools

Offers a comprehensive set of features for controlling and correcting data and metadata in your folders.

A “predictive” module detects conflicts between customizations and standard changes during release updates, allowing you to intervene and address them before they cause issues.

Advanced file comparison and alignment utilities are also available.
